Job description

  • Coordinate and monitor shipments from origin to destination, ensuring timely and accurate movement of goods.

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including carriers, customs officials, and clients, to facilitate the seamless flow of cargo.

  • Track and update shipment status, and communicate any delays or issues to relevant parties.

  • Prepare and verify shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs documentation.

  • Act as a point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on shipment status and addressing inquiries and concerns.

  • Coordinate with various transportation providers, including ocean carriers, airlines, and trucking companies.

  • Identify and address operational challenges, including delays, damages, and discrepancies in shipments.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related field is often preferred. Some companies may consider candidates with equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related industry is highly desirable. This experience helps candidates understand the complexities of the supply chain and the unique challenges of managing shipments across borders.

  • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and shipping documentation is crucial. Familiarity with various modes of transportation (air, ocean, road) and their respective requirements is an asset.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. The ability to communicate effectively with clients, carriers, customs officials, and internal teams is crucial for successful coordination and problem-solving.

  • Given the importance of accurate documentation and compliance in freight forwarding, attention to detail is critical. Small errors in documentation can lead to delays and additional costs.
